Exclusive Vaportek Systems
Vaportek odor control systems employ a proprietary compound of select
natural oils. With the membrane systems, oil compounds are hermetically
sealed into specially formed membranes that permit the oil to breathe
through the surface of the envelope as a vapor. The disk systems use a
special fiber element that is impregnated with the same natural oil blends
as the membranes. Both systems rely on convection to carry the vapor quickly
wherever air circulates - whether diffused passively or through the use of
electrical or battery-powered machines. For more information on our systems,
please see our entire product
line or you can also
contact us with any questions.
Odor Neutralization
Vaportek’s compound is an odor neutralizer. It modifies the olfactory
nature of unwanted odors to a point of odor disappearance. When two
substances of given concentrations are mixed, the resulting odor may be far
less intense than that of separate components and not be perceptible. This
is the principle behind odor modification or neutralization, and the basis
for Vaportek’s odor-neutralizing products.
When molecules of the several constituents of the Vaportek compound volatize
into air, they react with the odor-producing elements of the odorous
molecule. The portion of the molecule that contributes the odor may be
aldehyde, amine, diamine, sulfide, lactone, carboxylic acid, ester,
carbylamine, ketone or other carbons. These are highly reactive and are
neutralized, or made inactive, by the interaction with the ingredients of
the Vaportek compound. The Vaportek compound is effective because of its
intrinsic wide spectrum of neutralizing activity, combined with its high
mobility in air and ability to penetrate porous substances such as
wallboard, wood, carpeting, cement, insulation and others to permanently
neutralize imbedded odors.
Proven Product Uses
Vaportek odor controllers have proven effective in millions of uses,
including oil reclamation areas, rubber, asbestos, shoe and fiberglass
manufacturing plants, tanning plants, paint solvent areas, hospitals,
hotels, office buildings, and fire and restoration work.
Product Safety
Vaportek products address important safety issues in today’s market:
- Contain no added alcohol or petroleum distillates.
- Products are CFC-free and do not deplete the ozone layer.
- Membranes are spill-proof and designed for minimal waste generation.
- The Vaportek compound is non-toxic by design and contains natural
ingredients.
- Products do not generate ozone and are not subject to ozone
restrictions.
- Contain no inert ingredients, and are VOC compliant.
Vaportek products have proven exceptionally useful in fire/flood
restoration projects. The Vaportek compound effectively neutralizes
impregnated smoke odor and, unlike ozone generators, does not harm fibrous
materials. Additionally, buildings with smoke contamination may be occupied
while the Vaportek system is in use.
For your convenience, to follow are the most commonly asked questions and
their answers about our company and products. If you do not see the answer
to your question here, please
contact us. We welcome all inquiries.
Q-1. Where are your products made?
A-1. Vaportek manufactures and/or assembles all of its
products in Sussex, Wisconsin. We partner with suppliers from all over the
world; however, the vast majority of our components are sourced from the
United States.
Q-2. Do you have retail locations where I can purchase products?
A-2. Generally, our products distributed through a network
of authorized dealers across the country and around the world. Please
contact our customer service department for information about where our
products may be purchased.
Q-3. Can people, pets and plants remain in the area where your
products are working?
A-3. Yes, it is very safe to do so. In fact, Vaportek's
products are ideal for environments where animal odors are a problem, such
as pet shops, groomers and veterinarian clinics.
Q-4. What do you mean by “neutralizing odors?”
A-4. Traditional odor control has involved either masking
odors with a heavy perfume or desensitizing the olfactory senses of the
persons subject to a smell. Our product works by combining, or pairing, our
aromatic oils compound with malodors. The result is either a substantially
reduced odor or no odor at all. We have additional product literature
available to address this matter.
Q-5. Will the offensive smell return?
A-5. Vaportek products work safely and quickly to remove
imbedded odors by permeating surfaces in affected areas with a neutralizing,
dry vapor that is created by diffusing natural aromatic oils into the air.
If the source of the odor is removed prior to treatment, malodors will not
return.
Q-6. Do your products have a smell?
A-6. Yes, our products use a compound containing a complex
blend of over 30 natural oils. These oils have aromatic qualities, such as
pine, eucalyptus, orange and more. Our products do have a characteristic
scent; however, when used correctly, Vaportek should not be perceived as a
very strong presence. See our Aroma Selection Guide for more information.
Q-7. I have severe asthma/allergies. Can I use your product?
A-7. Generally, Vaportek’s products do not cause negative
reactions. However, for individuals with severe allergies to trees, plants
or flowers, Vaportek’s line of air treatment products could produce allergic
reactions.
Q-8. How are your systems different from ozone or ion precipitors?
A-8. Ozone is a regulated toxic gas often touted as a
solution to all types of indoor pollutants and interior contamination after
disasters. You can find out more about the whole story of ozone generators
from the U.S. government’s EPA web site
(www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/ozonegen.html). Ozone oxidizes everything it contacts.
People are advised not to be around running ozone generators for health
reasons. Our system does not oxidize; instead, our products emit a dry
vapor, composed of natural oils, to control odors in the air and odors
imbedded in porous surfaces.
Q-9. Are your products toxic?
A-9. Our products are generally regarded as safe and
non-toxic when used as directed. We would be happy to supply Material Safety
Data Sheets upon request.
Q-10. Is there any guarantee on your products?
A-10. Yes. If you are not completely satisfied, we stand
behind our products. Any claims against vapor delivery
membranes/disks/liquids must be made within 30 days of purchase. Any
equipment that is manufactured by Vaportek is covered by a limited,
five-year warranty. Products defective from manufacturing error will be
replaced. Please see the terms of our warranties for complete details.
Q-11. Which of your fragrances controls smoke (including tobacco)
best?
A-11.Our S.O.S. (Smoke Odor Solution) was specifically
formulated for use in fire and smoke restoration situations. It is an
alternative to the original 3X Industrial formula, which counteracts smoke
in addition to just about any other problem odor. S.O.S. is available for
use in the Heavy-duty Standalone Cartridge, Restorator, VaporShark and
Portable Industrial.
Q-12. How often should I change the filter on my air cleaner?
A-12. If you presently own a Vaportek air cleaner, we
recommend that the filter element be changed at 90-day intervals for best
performance.
Q-13. How long should I use a Restorator to treat odor problems in
vehicles?
A-13. Typically, auto detailers use the units for 1-3 hours
to get rid of imbedded odors. The nature and extent of contamination will
require adjusting length of treatment time to suit the problem. Detailed
guidelines are available.
Q-14. Do you have any product testimonials that I can read?
A-14. We have dozens of product use stories that you can
read here. Contact
customer service or e-mail us your needs.
